Particular Challenge: For the assessment of rotating parts, numerous parameters have to be taken into consideration: Concentricity, radial run-out and axial run-out (i.e. wobble); furthermore thickness, diameter, planarity and the absence of surface defects had to be examined. The solution developed by QuellTech consists in a configuration of three Q6 Laser Laser Scanners.Each of the lateral surfaces is assigned to its own scanner. In order to enable the thickness precisely to be determined, both laser lines are mutually oriented in opposite direction. The third scanner inspects the outer circumference of the wheel, this way measuring diameter and radial run-out. All of these scanners are subject to encoder signals supplied by the rotary axis and synchronously triggered, so possible defects on the wheel can precisely be localized. The measurement takes place at a resolution of ca. 30 µm, and a cloud comprising several millions of points are obtained. Existing factory workshops and industrial plants can be surveyed three-dimensionally in detail. For new buildings, further extensions and reconstruction in the future, there are spatial coordinates available which are accurate to a millimeter, from which two-dimensional construction plans can easily be drawn. Generation of 3D models From the data gathered by Z+F laser scanner systems and with the LFM software, 3D models of the actual state of the factory or plant (e.g. tubes, steel girders) can be generated. Furthermore, it is possible to generate complete CAD models from the 3D scan data (the so-called point cloud). Clash detection It is possible to simulate manufacturing processes and to carry out collision checks with 3D models. Example: Another production robot of the same type has to be added to an existing plant. Facility management All fixed equipment like cables or tubes is surveyed as well and saved in a 3D database which serves as the basis for future reconstruction.

Technical information The SC 05 universal is an electropneumatic benchtop crimper, equipped with a very efficient electropneumatic drive. The machine is operated by a foot-switch. The sequence is monitored by a microprocessor control. With the integrated quadro-crimping-tool, ferrules in the cross-section range from 0.5 mm² up to 6 mm² (AWG 20 - 10) (insulated/uninsulated) and twin ferrules with plastic collar from 2 x 0.5 mm² to 2 x 2.5 mm² (AWG 2 x 20 - 2 x 14) and crimping lengths from 6 mm up to 18 mm can be crimped. The crimper can easily be adapted to different cross-sections by turning the adjustments knob on the front cover of the machine. Other crimping forms or cross-sections are possible on request.

Technical Information The pneumatic driven crimper is specifically desig­ned to crimp loose turned contacts. In the range of 0.08 up to 4 mm2 (AWG 28 – 12) wires and contacts can be crimped. A 4/8-indent crimp corresponding to SAE 22520 is standard. The crimping-depth can be adjusted manually in 10 µm steps. The machine is equipped with standard crimping tool kit, the crimper can be easily adapted to various contacts. Brackets for optimized infeed and centering of the wire are optionally available.
